Database Assistant: No-Code Access to Business-Critical Data

Empowering non-technical users to query databases and explore data — no SQL required.

Overview

Our client needed to make their internal data more accessible to business users without risking the integrity or complexity of their core databases. We introduced the Database Assistant, a no-code querying interface powered by a set of curated SQL templates — with intelligent fallback logic and future LLM capabilities on the roadmap.

The Challenge

Business users constantly needed answers hidden in structured databases — but lacked SQL skills, relying heavily on engineering teams. This created backlogs, delays, and a growing disconnect between teams and data.

The Solution

SphereIQ’s Database Assistant simplifies data access by:

  • Offering a user-friendly drop-down interface to select query parameters
  • Triggering pre-written SQL queries behind the scenes
  • Including fallback logic to run alternative queries if primary ones return no data
  • Logging and structuring query outputs for easy export or reporting

We’re also developing a conversational layer powered by LLMs that will allow users to ask questions in natural language — and get clean, context-aware answers from the database.

The Results

Empowered business users to access data without engineering help

Reduced data team workload by up to 60%

Created a reliable self-service model for recurring queries

Paved the way for fully conversational, LLM-powered analytics
